]]>Each season introduces a new trend, and this fall, the stacked collection bracelet is the prominent look for fashion-savvy individuals all over the world. In order to display this trend in the chicest way, you’ll need to know how to stack bracelets perfectly.
Fall is for Stacking
Autumn is that gorgeous time of year when we start to go inward, literally and figuratively. Spending time outside slows as the temperature in many parts of the globe falls. We naturally start to reconnect with ourselves, perhaps also with our families as we roll towards the holiday season. Often, autumn signifies a time of humility and quietude. Though this is refreshing for many, it can also lead to a sense of being hidden away from the world. Our arms and legs covered for the cooler months; our skin goes unseen.
This is the perfect time to explore the stacked collection bracelet. These bracelets make you feel warm and beautiful despite the cold air. Tacked bracelets make your skin look like it glows, as though summer never left you behind. Adding femininity and grace to your wardrobe, stacked bracelets are an attention-grabbing way to maintain the fresh beauty of summer and warm up the fall. Hence, stacked bracelets are the biggest trend this fall.
How to Stack Bracelets
There are a variety of ways in which a stacked bracelet collection can be enjoyed.
The Simple Stack
If you prefer order and structure, this is the perfect style of stacking for you. Wearing a few simple, monotone pieces on your arms tells the world you are a person of confidence and professionalism. To display this look, keep it simple. Think minimalist and wear two or three gold pieces, like our thin Rose Gold Circle Bangle.
The Dramatic Stack
If, on the other hand, you love to be the center of attention, draw everyone’s eyes and ears towards you, and glimmer from afar, the Dramatic Stack is the ideal stacked bracelet style for you. To create the dramatic look, wear an eclectic combination of metals, up to ten or more if you dare. This bold look allows you to mix and match various shades of silver and gold, for a shiny and unique presentation. When you walk through the streets or hallways, feeling self-assured and gorgeous, you’ll emanate an ear-catching jingle with every step. To capture this look, we recommend choosing a mix of our one-of-a-kind circle bangles. Combine our Rose Gold, Yellow Gold, and Thin Satin bangles to make a bold statement.
The Balanced Stack
If you’re somewhere between the confident professional and savvy attention-seeker, then we have two solutions. Opt to easily combine two styles of thin bangles together, topping your stacked collection bracelet off at five. Another way to achieve this look is by stacking beaded bracelets rather than bangles. Wearing two or three of our popular Black Agate & Silver Double-wrap Baby Bar Bracelets is a stunning way to send the message that you’re trendy and energetic, yet composed.
The Takeaway
Autumn is the best time of year for going within and shining without. Now that you know how to stack bracelets, it’s time to enjoy the warmth of the indoors yet maintain the glimmering beauty of summer with a stacked collection bracelet.

Planting trees isn't exactly the easiest thing to do... in fact it's pretty hard work (especially if you're in an area that has hard and rocky soil).
Firstly, you need to get all the right tools before you can begin the back breaking (hopefully not literally, though!) labor. To really give the tree the best chance for long-term success and survival, this includes gathering together a shovel or rake, ample water for the tree, wood chips or some type of nutrient source, maybe a few rocks to give it a rock-ring, and the seedling you're going to plant, of course! Oh, and this doesn't include being properly prepared yourself for the physical toll it takes on your body if you're working in the sun (a hat or sunscreen is a must).
This past weekend, our team at Timelapse Co. got together with our partners at One Tree Planted and the Ventura Land Trust for a fun-filled morning of tree planting! Check out the photos from the event, below! And if you're interested, don't be shy to contact us so you can get involved in the next Plant a Tree Day :)

Today, we use crystals in all aspects of our lives to reflect our changing moods, but they seem to take on a stronger significance at Halloween.
Whether you want to connect with the spirit world, need additional security, or want to increase your creativity, the gemstones you wear and relate to can provide comfort, healing, guidance and protection. Let’s explore the world of crystals, magic, chakras, and Halloween.
The energy of Halloween
Halloween or All Hallow’s Eve is, of course, celebrated on October 31st. However, it has its roots in Samhain, a traditional Gaelic holiday that welcomes in the dark time of the year. According to ancient Celtic tradition, Samhain marks a time when death is celebrated, the ancestors are honored, and the earth is put to rest for the winter.
The Celtic Wheel of the Year honors this vital part of the crone and death cycle of Mother Earth. As the Wheel of the Year is cyclical, winter’s death is not an end, but a time of transformation, rejuvenation, rest, and renewal. As such, Halloween or Samhain is an energetically potent time that can help us seek clarity, engage in productive rest, ponder creative projects, and get in touch with the wisdom of our ancestors.
Chakras and Halloween
As Mother Earth moves into her rest phase, try focusing on your first, sixth, and seventh chakras. Chakras have been used for thousands of years for their spiritual benefits.
Your first chakra, or your root chakra, is called Muladhara in Sanskrit and associated with the color red. This chakra is located at the base of your tailbone, forms your connection to the earth, and governs your sense of groundedness, security, safety, and nurturance. Focusing on this chakra as the earth moves into her rest period can be very powerful.
Your sixth chakra, Ajna, is your third eye chakra. This chakra allows you to see into the spirit world, connect to your psychic intuition, and gain clarity in your life. It’s associated with the color indigo. As Halloween is a time when spiritual activity is heightened, your third eye is a wonderful focus.
Lastly, your seventh chakra, or Sahasrara, is pure consciousness energy. It’s your connection to divine consciousness and your higher self. It’s associated with the colors violet and white. Connect to this chakra at Halloween to feel in touch with the flow of consciousness and intuition.
The root chakra and Tiger’s Eye
If you’re looking for a crystal that helps to balance your first chakra, look for jewelry with Tiger’s Eye gemstones. The hints of red help to enliven your root chakra, enhancing creativity, and increasing the flow of the earth’s grounding energy. Used at Halloween, this crystal gemstone can provide incredible benefits. Historically, Roman soldiers used it as a protective stone in battle, as it was said to give them the groundedness, courage, and determination of a tiger.
Labradorite and the third eye
Labradorite, with an iridescent display of colors that evoke images of the northern lights, is an excellent choice for activating third eye awareness. Not only is it generally found in volcanic igneous rock deposits, but it’s renowned for awakening psychic intuition, enhancing divination and clairvoyance, and protecting against negativity. As Inuit folklore states that it was formed in the magical fires of the Northern Lights, it’s a perfect gemstone for Halloween!
The crown chakra and jade
While jade is typically associated with the heart chakra, it can provide many benefits for those looking to open their crown chakra at Halloween. It promotes a sense of love and can offer protection from evil spirits and negative energies. For anyone looking to use their crown chakra to help connect with their higher self and the ancestors, this stone is an excellent, safeguarding choice at Halloween. The Chinese culture has regarded it as a protective stone since the stone age.
Conclusion
The combination of crystals, chakras, and Halloween can offer incredible benefits for the spiritually curious. Add some beautiful crystal jewelry from Timelapse Co. to your collection and enjoy the magic this Samhain.

]]>Labradorite: the geology
Labradorite is a feldspar mineral. Feldspar minerals are abundant minerals that aid in the rock formation process. As such, labradorite isn’t technically a stone and is most often encountered in igneous rock deposited by volcanic magma.
In geology, the phantasmagoric display of yellow, gold, orange, blue, red, and green common to labradorite is known as the schiller effect. This arises from entwining striations along the mineral’s cleavage faces. Labradorite with the highest degree of schiller effect becomes selected for gemstone use.
The history of labradorite
Labradorite has long been used in indigenous artwork, as evidenced by its role in Inuit folklore. However, it was only first encountered by Europeans in 1770, when Moravian missionaries stumbled across the mineral on the Isle of Paul in Labrador, Canada. Since then, labradorite has been found in other locations, such as Australia, Finland, Mexico, Norway, Russia, the USA, and Madagascar.
Labradorite and the zodiac
Although it’s not associated with any particular zodiac sign, labradorite has a number of applications for zodiac use. Individuals born under the Cancer sign may find that the colors and volcanic earth-fire energy raise their vibrations and increase their creativity and groundedness.
It can also be a potent gemstone for Saggitarius, Scorpio, and Leo signs as they undertake powerful creative or magical endeavors. This is perfect for Halloween, the traditional pagan holiday when the veil between the natural and spiritual worlds is thin, and magic is more effective than usual.
Labradorite and chakras
With its shimmering beauty and its ability to conjure images of the northern lights, labradorite is associated with the sixth chakra, otherwise known as the third eye.
Opening your third eye is associated with clarity, intuition, wisdom, precognition, and spiritual knowledge. When labradorite shimmers with a dark blue or green, it promotes the perception of truth, while lighter colors summon balance and mental flexibility.
Activating your third eye with labradorite can raise your consciousness and allow you to access your higher self’s guidance. This, in turn, can awaken your seventh or crown chakra, which is your direct connection with your soul or higher self, as well as your link to universal divine consciousness.
As such, labradorite can be instrumental in times of personal transformation and change. Connection to your inner wisdom can, in turn, boost your self-confidence and self-worth. This can help you heal psychic wounds, work through past life trauma, protect yourself against negative spiritual energies, and break through addictive patterns.
Labradorite, clairvoyance, and divination
Labradorite is, above all else, a stone of spiritual growth. As Halloween thins the veil between the natural and spiritual worlds, labradorite can help you access spiritual wisdom.
Using labradorite beads around Halloween is a fantastic way to boost the accuracy of your past life recall, improve psychic readings, get in touch with your ancestors, and awaken your psychic intuition. As such, it makes a fantastic Halloween gift for anyone who’s starting on a new creative venture or business project.
A labradorite bead bracelet: a magical gift
If you’re searching for a Halloween gift for yourself or a loved one, look no further. A labradorite bead bracelet is a stylish and spiritual accessory. Labradorite beads can help you make the most of this magical time of year and help you get in touch with your inner wisdom, your ancestors, and your higher self.
Conclusion
Labradorite is a powerful gemstone that can aid in connecting you to the wisdom of earth and fire: It can help you open your third eye, empower your use of the zodiac, and awaken your psychic intuition. If you’re searching for a spiritually in-tune Halloween gift for yourself or someone else, take a look at the Timelapse Co.’s extensive exotic bead and crystal collection.

]]>Being in the present helps you live a better life; it helps you feel more fulfilled anywhere you go. To live in the present is to live without the distracting thoughts of your past mistakes and without the constant worries about what the future may hold. It means living with full appreciation of the present moment. It means truly embracing the here and now; what’s right in front of you. Since you can't change the past and you don't have complete control over the future, right now in this moment is what truly matters.
Give yourself or someone you know the true gift – give them the gift of appreciating the present.
]]>What is jade and how is it formed?
For over 5,000 years, jadeite has been used to make jewelry, tools, and sculptures. Of course, it’s also long been used as a gemstone and marked for its incredible hue and luster when polished.
It is a metamorphic rock, which means that it was once a sedimentary rock, made over years by material deposited slowly by air or water that then underwent extreme pressure and heat.
This pressure and heat transform the rock into a completely new class of stone. In the case of jadeite, it becomes aluminum-rich pyroxene, which means that it is both a silicate (a rock with a salt content) and prismatic crystal. It is most frequently found along ancient or current continental plate boundaries, meaning it was probably often formed when continents collided.
This helps to explain both its beauty and its healing qualities, as salt and silicates are known throughout the New Age community to help absorb negative energy, promote healing, and foster harmony. Its formation at the meeting of continents speaks to its ability to promote harmony and fertility. On the other hand, prismatic crystals are incredibly beautiful and often renowned for a variety of spiritual benefits.
What are jade’s top healing qualities?
Perhaps it’s the transformation that jade undergoes during its formation. Maybe it’s the silicate and crystalline quality of the rock. Either way, jade is renowned for several healing and spiritual benefits such as:
All these incredible benefits work together to protect the wearer from harm, increase love and friendship, and foster healing work.
Types of jade
For centuries, the word jade has been used interchangeably to refer to nephrite, which looks similar to jadeite but is an entirely different stone. Nephrite is also incredibly powerful, but it’s associated with different healing purposes, a different zodiac sign, and a different chakra, so it’s important to keep the two as distinct types of gems.
However, jadeite itself is often associated with the planet Mercury. It’s connected with the heart chakra, which is the seat of personal balance, connection, serenity, love, and openness.
How can I incorporate jade into my personal style?
Jade is especially beautiful in the form of beads, which makes it easy to wear as a jewelry item. You will likely receive many complements on its luster and viridescent hue.
Wear a green jade bead bracelet with a simple white top for a laid-back, chic style. Pair it with a lacy off-white top for a little more glamor, or channel the early 1970s with a long, green skirt and a pale, grey tank top with your jade beaded necklace.
Here are a few more ideas:
Final thoughts
Jade is a wearable with a deep and inviting history. The natural shine and beautiful green color of the stone pairs well with almost any sense of style. Incorporate jade into your life to enjoy the powerful benefits of stability, healing, harmony, protection, and serenity.

]]>Lava stone: a spiritual powerhouse
There are many important spiritual properties associated with lava stone. It’s an igneous volcanic rock, which means it was formed from molten lava deep in the earth. Because of its role as a grounding stone that strengthens your connection to Mother Earth, it can promote strength and courage, enrich fertility, and encourage a sense of calm.
To effectively pair with essential oils, choose oils known for their connection to the elements of fire or earth, or select oils known for their courage-promoting, creativity-enhancing, and spiritually-grounding properties.
In addition to being practical, cypress essential oil is antimicrobial and useful for treating cuts. This oil has an earthy, woodsy scent that hints at some of its spiritual properties. It can help process strong emotions, connect you to your intuition, calm overpowering feelings, and improve the quality of your sleep.
To help you connect to the healing and calming properties of lava stone, use cypress essential oil first thing in the morning before you head off to work, or right before you go to sleep.
Jasmine essential oil can increase your sense of safety while also aiding in the eradication of irrational anger, doubt, and negativity. This bright, floral scent can help boost libido, connect you to your earthy sensuality, and promote a bright and cheerful disposition. The enlivening properties found in jasmine essential oil can raise your confidence before a fun night out, or help you tackle difficult challenges in your life.
Frankincense provides a grounding, centering aroma that can help magnify the grounding properties of lava stone. Fruity, warm, and spicy in scent, it’s used as a supplement to meditation practices. It aids to slow and deepen the breath, connecting us to us to our inner creativity and Mother Earth.
Frankincense can also help calm the mind and lift clouds of negative thoughts and feelings, such as sadness or stress. It’s a powerful and aromatic ally of lava stone.
Sandalwood has long been associated with its connection to human romance, sexuality, zest for life, and self-esteem. With its rich, woody, sweet aroma, it’s not hard to understand why. To connect to the positive fire element attributes and light up the passion and enthusiasm in your life, wear sandalwood essential oil as you don your lava stone beads.
Rose essential oil is known for its ability to help open the heart chakra. Opening the heart chakra can help users work through old trauma, process stress, and possibly relieve some symptoms of depression or anxiety. To connect your heart to the negativity-cleansing and grounding properties of lava stone, pair it with rose essential oil.
Patchouli, also known as the perfume of the hippy era, is connected to the earth element and is a powerhouse of spiritual benefits. It is a regenerative, detoxifying, grounding essential oil that is frequently associated with wealth, fertility, prosperity, and sexuality. With a deep, musky scent, it’s often used in meditation to promote a balance of passion and relaxation. It’s an excellent essential oil to pair with your lava beads: It connects to the lava stone’s earth origins and magnifies the wearer’s connection to Mother Earth.
Conclusion
Lava stone is a grounding, powerful, and spiritually potent stone, and a beautiful fashion accessory. The dark beads conjure up a sense of the fire and earth elements and make a chic, glamorous meditation tool. Pair with any of these six essential oils for a naturally luxurious scent and profound spiritual benefits.

Physical Properties
The Eagle’s Eye stone, also known as pietersite, is part of the family of quartz gemstones and is composed mainly of a combination of Tiger’s Eye and Hawk’s Eye quartz. It is also comprised of several other trace mineral compounds and amphibole fibers which create the characteristic blue chatoyancy, or “cat-eye” effect.
This unique and rare combination of quartz gives the Eagle’s Eye stone a mysterious stormy quality and alluring blue-grey color which is why it is sometimes also called the “Tempest Stone.”
The geological process of creating the Eagle’s Eye stone entails enormous amounts of pressure and stretching. This process gives it remarkable hardness and durability, which is reflected in the metaphysical properties that it possesses.
Metaphysical Properties
While streaks of blue, grey, and red may look chaotic, the Eagle’s Eye stone is often used for its grounding properties during spiritual journeying ceremonies to keep you connected with your etheric body. This same stability and grounding effect also makes it an effective stone for promoting deep concentration and enhancing decision-making skills, which makes it useful for improving the flow of your work and study.
In opposition to the swirling turmoil of the color pattern, Eagle’s Eye stones are considered to be effective for calming emotional turmoil and providing balance and clarity to your mind. Eagle’s Eye stones also possess the power to cleanse your aura of negative emotions and dispel illusions, allowing you to see more clearly the lies of others and those you tell yourself.
This helps removes self-doubt, promotes confidence and boosts your self-esteem allowing you to fulfill your potential without emotional blockages in your way.
Eagle’s Eye stones are associated with the sacral and solar plexus chakras, which are used to remove energy blockages that can hamper your creativity. Wearing Eagle’s Eye stones around the sacral chakra can soothe a tumultuous nervous system and bring you into the present moment so that you can more readily access the most creative parts of your inner mind.
Eagle’s Eye stones are said to be powerful stones for enhancing the vision and scope of your Third Eye chakra, which is why many crystal healing practitioners suggest it for use during meditation and spiritual growth exercises. It is suggested that Eagle’s Eye can be used to become more aware of your inner thoughts and emotions, allowing you to live a more mindful and fulfilling life.
Eagle’s Eye Jewelry
The color and composition of the Eagle’s Eye stone make it ideal for both men’s and women’s jewelry.
Eagle’s Eye stones pair well with natural textiles such as leather, as well as precious metals such as gold and silver. The hardness of the stone also helps it to stand up to tougher metals and alloys such as the titanium often used in men’s pieces.
Eagle’s Eye stones match beautifully with nature-inspired colored gemstones and crystals such as amber, black agate, and olive jade. It also works synergistically with its related stones, including Tiger’s Eye and Hawk’s Eye to enhance the metaphysical properties and complement the colorful, streaked pattern of the stones.
Final Thoughts
The Eagle’s Eye stone’s unique and mysterious qualities make it a valuable addition to any gemstone collection. Accessorize your wardrobe with a stunning Eagle’s Eye piece of jewelry, which is not only beautiful but can also improve your spiritual and emotional state.

]]>Natural gemstones have been worn as jewelry for centuries. Their healing powers have been used throughout the ages as standard remedies for a variety of ailments. Early witch doctors, shamans, wise women, and more, studied the properties of gemstones and regularly ‘prescribed’ them for influencing the energies of everyday life.
Where did black agate originate?
The name agate comes from a river in Sicily currently called the Dirillo. In ancient times the river was named ‘Achetes’ and was known for its remarkably clear waters. The stones found nearby were a form of translucent chalcedony.
Agate can come in several different colors depending on what types of minerals are embedded into the stone while it forms. This growth creates two kinds of banding in agate stones, horizontal or wall lining banding. The direction of the banding refers to how it lays along the growth lines of the agate.
Agate is a naturally porous stone. Black agate is a particularly lovely class of agate because it is uniform in color and complexion. It is a grounding stone that relates to the earth element, which is how it provides strength and improves self-confidence.
This grounding component is the basis for the way the gemstone works in all forms of healing; solidifying resolve, providing psychic protection and generally giving strength to overcome physical, emotional and mental toxicity.
What does black agate symbolize?
A dark-colored stone from the quartz family, black agate symbolizes courage, consistency, and perseverance. Wear it to job interviews, auditions, or when you have a big presentation to pitch. The solid, deep black stone promotes calmness and inner strength.
The meanings and perceived traits of various crystals have been observed and cataloged over the centuries. Black agate is associated with the Gemini astrological sign and is helpful for bone and joint issues. It eases joint pain, aids in mobility and is beneficial for bone marrow illnesses.
Like all black stones, black agate protects the wearer from negative energies. Small drops of black agate earrings can help you overcome negative thoughts. Worn as beads in a bracelet or necklace, you can add some understated style to your outfit while protecting yourself from stress and drawing good fortune toward you.
The versatility of black agate
Fall fashion week just wrapped up in New York City, and almost every trend spotted on the runway is perfectly accented by artistically beautiful black agate.
Any way you look at it, black agate is a versatile stone that can blend with every look you want to wear.
Final word
Natural crystals are an affordable way to give any outfit a boost of chic glamour. You can find black agate in a variety of styles and settings, making it simple to find jewelry that complements your style. Black agate is a powerhouse of a healing gemstone and a great foundation stone to begin your collection of wearable exotic crystals.

We believe that the great service men and women who fight for the our country's freedom every single day deserve our continual support and respect, and those who have unfortunately passed while in the line of duty leave behind legacies through their families and children. These families endure great hardships through their sacrifices, and sometimes don't get all of the support they need.
That is why today we'd like to announce the launch of our new initiative: Timelapse Cares. Continually throughout the year we'll look to partner with various non-profit organizations that align with our values of appreciating life in the moment through supporting the environment and various world communities.
For this Memorial Day weekend, we have partnered with our friends at the organization Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to helping the children of our fallen service people find the financial support they need to go to college so they can succeed in today's modern world and support our nation's communities.
In partnering with Fallen Patriots, we'll be donating 10% of sales during our Memorial Day Weekend sale to their organization to support their mission and cause. From now through 11:59 PM PST on May 28, use code "TIME15" to save 15% off your entire order, and also help a family who has endured an unfortunate loss.
For more information about Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation, check out the fact sheet below, and together we can give thanks and appreciation to those who have sacrificed so much for our freedoms.
Sincerely,
Michael Westerband, CEO | Timelapse Co.

]]>So what exactly does this mean and what are these so-called "jewels"?
Jewels are the small red or clear circles that are sometimes visible the faces of various watch movements. In watch movement design and engineering, the axels and pins of numerous rotating cogs, wheels, and levers are set into holes and indentations referred to as pivots. These pivots are normally lightly oiled for the parts to run smoothly, but in addition to oil, small Rubies and Sapphires are sometimes utilized. Since it's so hard, the surface of a ruby serves as a sort of natural lubricant and essentially becomes a bearing. Original watchmakers used mined precious rubies, but nowadays the actual crystals used in watch movements are mainly synthetic.
The jewel count refers to the number of pivots with inset rubies - or "jewels"! When you see 7 or 17 jewels, the particular movement you're looking at features that number of jewel-inset pivots.
There are many different factors to consider that speak towards determining quality, and although not always the case, higher jewel counts are typically indicative of premium craftsmanship.
Curious how many jewels some of our movements have? You can find the jewel count of the movements under the "Product Details" tab for The Silver Line or BLACK collections, and under the "Specs" tab for The Select Line.
So now when people ask you what "17 jewels" means, you know what to tell them.

]]>Horology is the art and science of measuring time. It's considered both an art and science for the obvious reason - it's a blend! The science behind measuring time involves accurate calculation and calibration of the measuring instrument, while the art side is clearly evident by not only the complex engineering designs, but also elaborate aesthetic designs. Traditionally, horology has referred to all devices that measure time, but now that seemingly everything comes in a digital version it refers mainly to mechanical timekeepers (chronometry more broadly includes the electronic devices that have supplanted mechanical ones for the best accuracy and precision). People who deal professionally with these apparatus as well as those that are just aficionados are called horologists. Now, it's certainly possible that a dedicated horologist would know the answers to all the questions about every single piece we offer, but I don't think you have to be a horologist to appreciate the art and history behind the movements. Some of the movements come from the mid to late 1800's - before Ford released the Model T. That means that when you wear a Timelapse piece you're wearing a small piece of history that's potentially traveled for over a century on Earth to finally find it's way around your neck or onto your finger.
The watch industry is really interesting when you think about it. For the everyday person, would a more expensive mechanical watch make them more on-time for appointments vs a cheap watch? Probably not. Are expensive watches more accurate? Maybe, but with new digital technologies it might not be the case.
How about looks - do more expensive watches at least look nicer? Since it's partly subjective, the answer isn't so clear. With most watches, the movement is hidden behind a watch face and case so it's typically hidden from view, regardless of how intricate a movement's design may be... how sad! It may seem plain on the outside, but on the inside it's anything but plain.
So much went into the making every movement you see. The designs aren’t merely aesthetically pleasing, but functional. Screws, covers, gears, escapement springs, and more all come together in a complicated but coordinated fashion to create miniature instruments of time. Sometimes the movements feature multiple complications (which are any functions aside from displaying hours and minutes, such as the ability to tell the date in addition cycles of the moon, and more) or are decorated with elaborate engravings that are never fully appreciated. Similar to how most people probably don't think about the incredible engineering and beauty of the engine working under the hood of their cars each time they drive, it's easy to overlook how truly amazing these mini masterpieces of time can be.
Watches are engineering marvels; they're true testaments to the limitless ingenuity of humankind. That's why certain movements like those that feature a tourbillon escapement are so expensive. They're not necessarily more accurate than the far more common Swiss lever-style or the newer co-axial escapements, but their designs are so intricate and delicate that making a single tourbillon escapement can take a master craftsman 18 months. They command high prices because they're essentially art... just like every watch movement.
Certain details behind the engineering are just cool to think about too. For instance, when you look at the jewels in the watch movement, you're looking at real rubies. Watchmakers don’t put them in there just for looks; the rubies have functional purposes. Aside from reducing friction in the watch to increase accuracy, the rubies also increase the life of the wheel train bearings and the escapement in the movement. Pretty neat, huh?
There's the old saying that a picture is worth a thousand words. At Timelapse Co., each movement tells a story. Discover your movement.

What does this mean for us? One important word: sustainability. And what is sustainability? Here at Timelapse Co., we believe sustainability means taking into consideration future generations of humans and all living things on Earth. It means not compromising the needs of those future generations to fulfill our present desires, but doing our best to maintain a balance. Because with jewelry we don't have the same requirements as other high tech industries, there are things we can do to reduce our ecological footprint - namely, recycling.
So how do we accomplish this? For one, since mining is inherently unsustainable (all mines run out of ore, eventually) we avoid sourcing our raw materials from suppliers where metals come directly from mines, otherwise known as "first generation metals." Instead, we try to use raw materials recycled from industrial scraps. We collect, remelt, and recycle our own scraps as well. More than 85% of our raw metals come from recycled and refined scraps, and the majority of the balance comes from American mines with tight regulations. We try to use as much recycled materials as possible, whenever possible.

]]>The watch movements we use in Select Line pieces come from all over the world, from the USA to Switzerland. Similarly, the years they were manufactured span decades, from new 21st-century movements to movements created in the mid 1800's when each individual gear needed to be made entirely by hand. Featuring a custom bail design as well as chain options unavailable on Silver Line pieces, each Select Line piece is truly unique.
]]>Set up your already awesome sense of style with Timelapse Co.'s Silver Line.
Want a black finish? Great. Satin? Sweet. Polished? No problem. The rings and pendants in the Silver Line come in three finishes to choose from.
For pendants, aside from choosing the finish you have other options to choose from as well. These include choosing from three different chain sizes as well as selecting your bail design (the pendant bail is the part at the top of the pendant that the chain slides through). All together there are over 70 combinations of styles and sizes available in the current collection.
Long or short, large or small, circle or square, black/satin/or polished - with the Silver Line, you're in control.

Our story began as a handcrafted product and at our core we will always stay true to what that means. That is why the bezel you'll find on every Timelapse Co. pendant is fabricated by hand instead of cast out of a mold. Every day we wake up and come to our downtown Los Angeles workshop where we take raw strips of silver and cut, bend, and solder them together to create the casing for each Timelapse Co. pendant one-by-one. We do it ourselves, we don't outsource our fabrication. We do it out of our love of the art of craftsmanship, and that's the only way we're able to ensure the highest levels of quality, love, and care that we stand for go into every single Timelapse piece.
It’s not just the fabrication that’s done by hand. We also finish every single piece by hand. Every single piece passes through an eight-stage sanding and polishing process. For blackened pieces, after this initial polish is complete, we force oxidize the metals to give them a nice, deep patina. For polished pieces, they’re buffed further to a shiny mirror finish.
We started Timelapse Co. out of our passion for the creative process and an appreciation of watch movements. Both of which will never waver.

]]>He told me he found the old watch sitting in a bin filled with random art trinkets at his mom's place and thought it might look nice as a pendant. Although I can't be certain, if I were in his position at the time I think it might have been easy to overlook it as a mere broken old watch. Thankfully I wasn't! In that moment, we realized it was more than a broken watch headed for the landfill.
This is the first ever Timelapse Co. necklace - a rusty, little pocket-watch movement on a brass ball chain. Although some of the gears had fallen off and there was just superglue to reattach them for the prototype, I thought it was awesome - mechanical and artistic! And certainly different than anything else we really saw people wearing at the time. We thought to ourselves that if we liked it this much, other people probably would too.
And so the journey of Timelapse Co. began.
Back then we built our pieces on our kitchen tables. It was far cry from the precious metal work we do today, but it was our start. We made the jewelry for our friends and sold it at music festivals and local parties. Maybe you even remember seeing one of our booths.
Thanks to the love and support of you, our awesome customers, friends, and family, we slowly grew and continually improved our products. Soon we were seeing pictures of people across the world wearing Timelapse pieces.
Since then we’ve spent the past years learning from and working with numerous master jewelers with over a century of combined, traditional jewelry-making experience. We've experimented with hundreds of designs and variations, paying attention to even the smallest details in our work. Today, our work is elevated by our patent-pending designs that wrap each Timelapse Co. piece in a finely handcrafted precious metal bezel. Every day we work on bringing you new designs and continue to refine and improve our products. This is just the beginning. We started as just two guys with a shared passion for making cool stuff, but with the love and support of you, our customers, friends, and family, the Timelapse community has grown over the years. And we couldn't be more excited to have you be a part of it.
